Interview with Nadia Ejjafini

Nadia was born in Rabat (Morocco) 08/11/77, lives and trains in Biella where is enrolled to the society "Runner Team 99" based in Volpiano, followed by Massimo Magnani and powered by the Mizuno Sports Team. Let's know her better through a series of questions to which she answered with the liking and vitality that countersigns her on the track and during the day.

Do you tell us how and when you have begun to race?
At 13/14 , I also remember me the day, Saturday, I had gone to the field with some friends and neighbors and run with them thirty minutes. The day later, there was a winter competition, their trainer invited me to take part at the competition and I agrred, the surprise was great, I arrived second, without training and beating people that already raced time, it was my great beginning...


What do you remember of your first victory?

My first victory has arrived the same year, maybe a litte later, but has been a big beautiful satisfaction because in all the competitions that I did to the beginning of my career I always arrived second. At the end of the championship, however I have succeeded in beating my usual opponent that always beat me... it was also the first time where i gained some economic profit.

Among the so many competitions to which you have participated, of which you have the best memory?
The Olympiads even if I have gone badly, I have retired in the marathon for so many motives but it has served me as experience for the future...


Who is your trainer?

Massimo Magnani, but Andrea Bello follows me every day.


Where do you habitually train ? Who are your companions of training?
I train in Biella at Lamarmora stadium and four times per year I go to for three or four weeks in different places: St. Moritz / Livigno / Ifrane. I often train me with my friend (sister) Fatna, Paolo Vialardi and the trainer Andrea Bello.


Tell us about your week type of training? How many trainings per week and kilometers you cross in average?
Twelve, thirteen weekly trainings, kilometers from 100 to 120, few because I am not preparing me for a marathon, but however the trainings change from an objective to the other...


Which are the typologies of training that you prefer? And those you don't appreciate particularly?

The preferred jobs are rather those fast and very fast!! Less pleasant are those long because they annoy me but I do them the same.

What distance do you feel particularly yours?
The 5000m on track, I adore it!!!


Wich competition do you prefer most? Track, road or cross country? Whichhas given you and you the greatest satisfaction?

The preferred competitions are the 5000m, I also like the cross and the road that gave me many wins.


When you have decided to become a professional runner?
The decision has sincerely come unintentionally ..but my only decision has been not to end the studies, because I raced for the national o of Morocco, I had to train twice me with the group and I didn't have enought time for the school. In Morocco existsan institute s for the strongest athletes, you lives there from the beginning at the end of the year, they pay pagan and massage you, however they offer you all that serves to be an athlete, and we must think only about racing strong...!! so I have been a paid professional without taking any decision!


Which feelings do you try when you race?

Serenity and liberty


Tell us your usual day managing.
I wake up very early for habit, immediately breakfast then at 9h30 o'clock my first training, I return home and I immediately in tourn on the computer, lunch and I rest for the second training, normally toward the 16h. In the late afternon I go for a walk for shopping and take an appetizer with my friend Fatna or other friends. Then I return home, have a small dinner and I watch some movies or again in front of my only companion of house the computer!!! and this is how and so I spend my normal day...

Is there a competition that you remember with particular satisfaction?
There are sincerely so many competitions that gave me satisfaction but the half marathon Roma-Ostia remains the best because it was the beginning of so many other victories.

What athlete do you mostly admire and because?
Stefano Baldini because I like him as a person and I would like to give atlhelitcs a part of waht he did.

In which type of competition you think to be able to improve?
I am sure to be able to improve on all the distances from the 5000m to the marathon..

Which are your principal objectives for the year 2007?
Making pbs on all the distances and finda place for the World Championships in Osaka ( maybe for Italy).


And your dream in the drawer?
I cannot say to participate in the Olympiads because I have already been toAthens 2004 but I hope to succeed in getting an important result in the next Olympiads in Pekino 2008.. before I will try to make a few important times on the marathon as pre-preparation for the Olympiads...
