Interview with Fatna Maraoui

We are going to introduce an athlete that next Sunday will begin in "azzurro" sweater the European Cross Country Championships . She is Fatna Maraoui, a 29 years old athlete enrolled for Co-ver and residing in Biella, a new Italian citizen, assumed for marriage, leaving the Moroccan. Fatna can be the point of diamond of the female "azzurri" team, considering that in the selection-test of Volpiano has reached the second position, outsprinted only from the ex fellow countryman Nadia Ejjafini.

Would you tell us how you started running?
Practically I have always raced from when I was child; I also accompanied to the field my sister and I have begun to trainwith her. After a few years I entered the national of Morocco, I have won a national title in a competition of cross, I have participated in the Championship of the World of Cross in Marrakesh, and I have been champion of Morocco for 3 years in the 3000m.

From how long you live in Italy?

From 8 years and since 4 I am Italian..

What type of training do you prefer to develop?
I prefer the training on road, where I do jobs on long distances.

Do you prefer cross, road or track?
I would say that I don't like cross a lot it, because it's always muddy and I don't run so much good, while the competitions on road and track... I feel them closer.

In which distance you have more high-performance?
The distances where I make better are 10000m, half marathons, would say also 5000m, I don't like shorter distances, my personnel on the 10.000 is 32'54".

Have made some special performances on track?
I won a meeting in France, a 5000m track competition whereI have realized my personnel 15'40''70, for 70 cents unfortunately I have missed the qualification to the Europeans of Goteborg.

Do you remember the competition that has given you more satisfactions?
I have done so many competitions , all the won are beautiful!

Wich emotions give run to you?
Run for me is everything, serenity, calm, besides it is also my job.


Who is oyur trainer?

My trainer is Andrea Bello, that has been a good athlete too.

How much km in average you train week?
About100 - 120 km, it depends however on the competition that I am preparing. I make 2 trainings a day of 50 min. each, about 25 km a day.

How do you live the eve of a competition?
I would say well enough, however if the competition is a championship or atnational level I feel me little in panic.


Wch are your next goals?

The first one is the Europeano Cross Championship to San Giorgio Su Legnano, where I hope to do well.. Then the Italian championship of cross and even also the world ones.I'm also going to prepare for some beautiful marathon. I also want to run well in the international track season.
